Grit Removal Upgrades – East Process
DC WASA Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant
This project includes the following items:
w Complete rehabilitation of Grit Chamber Building 2 and installation of new traveling bridge grit removal system, including installation of new grit conveyance and hoisting equipment, replacement of various gates, blowers, dewatering pumps and other piping valves and appurtenances.
w Construction in Grit and Screenings Loading Station 2, including installation of equipment for grit conveyance and appurtenances.
w Installation of a new foul air collection system and appurtenances, and connection to existing odor control systems.
w Hauling and on-site disposal of grit and screenings material removed from the facilities during construction.
The project requires completion within 1,486 consecutive calendar days.
This project is estimated to be between $20,000,000 to $30,000,000.
Bid Documents are available for pick-up on March 03, 2002 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Department of Procurement, 5000 Overlook Avenue, SW, 2nd Floor, Washington, D.C. 20032. Sets of Bidding Documents can be procured for a non-refundable $225.00 purchase price each, payable to DC Water and Sewer Authority. Payment must be in the form of a money order, certified check or a company check. Documents can be shipped to Bidders providing a Federal Express account number.

The DC WASA Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant is a secured facility. Persons intending to pick-up Bidding Documents are to contact the Department of Procurement at 2027872020 for access authorization.
This project is to be funded in part by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is to be advertised in the open market. A Fair Share Objective for Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises participation in this work of 30% and 5%, respectively, has been established. The program requirements are fully defined in USEPA’s “Guidance for Utilization of Small, Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises in Procurement Under Assistance Agreements –6010, 1997 Edition”.
The Davis-Bacon wage determinations shall apply.
This project is located at the DC WASA Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant at Blue Plains in Washington D.C.
